From day one Kayak Scupper Plugs has set out to take the hassle out of shopping for kayak scupper plugs. Today we take that to the next level by releasing a brand new design in kayak scupper plugs, the self-draining or self-bailing scupper plug! Our in-house design and manufacturing team has come up with a way to combine our extensive database of custom kayak scupper plug kits with the customer demand for self-draining scupper plugs. With this addition we can now offer our customers not only scupper plug kits tailor made for their exact kayak brand and model, but now we can offer those kits in both traditional and self-draining versions. That my friend is a win-win.

So what is a self-draining or self-bailing kayak scupper plug and why do I need one? Let’s start with the first question and then you will know why you need them. Our standard pull-loop scupper plugs do a great job stopping water from entering the kayak from below. This provides for a drier day on the water and that means a more enjoyable day on the water. The problem is that water will still splash in during paddling or the occasional breaking wave. It is going to happen and when it does the water could then be trapped inside the kayak defeating the purpose of the factory equipped scupper holes. With the addition of the Kayak Scupper Plug self-draining scupper plugs this problem too is now solved. Our innovative design will allow water to drain down through the scupper holes as needed but by design they also prevent water from coming up through the scupper plugs. Now you can plug your scupper holes and forget about them (except for the recommended occasional plug cleaning).

We already have these new plugs listed individually for purchase and over the coming weeks we will begin rolling out our custom kits with the self-bailing option. If you notice we do not have your kit ready when you check-in our site just let us know and we will move it to the front of the list.

Thank you for an amazing 2020 kayak season and we will see you on the water.
